KBIS 2014 Favorites

In the beginning of February 2014, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) was hosted in Las Vegas, NV.  It is the biggest event of the year for the Kitchen and Bath industry and hundreds of vendors are introducing their latest kitchen and bath products to designers and builders. The 3-day show yielded so many new inspirations and I can’t wait to incorporate some of them in my projects this year. The following is a small selection of some of my favorite products of the 2014 KBIS. If you have any questions about these products, please feel free to email or give me a call. I’ll be happy to help as much as possible.

Thank you very much for your interest in HAVEN STUDIOS‘ blog, as always!

KBIS 2014_AnnSacks_Kallista

Above: Ann Sacks booth during KBIS 2014. The field tile on the walls is the 8″ x 8″ Agidar field in white (and gold), which is part of the Mousharabia collection by Martyn Lawrence Bullard. It was inspired by Moroccan carved wood latticework screens that incorporate repeating architectural shapes into glorious proportionate works of art. I love the tile work in combination with Kallista’s aged bronze fixtures from the Vir Stil Collection. It’s eclectic, while elegant and glamorous at the same time.

KBIS 2014_Thompson Traders_03

Above: A hammered metal sink by Thompson Traders for a dream of a powder room. Today, you can be so much more creative with the choice of finishes because there’s a myriad of metal finishes available on the market. The use of metal is not only limited to fixtures and hardware, as they are now being used for sinks, tubs, and basins as well. Take a look at Thompson Traders for your inspiration as only one example of many brands and manufacturers out there.

KBIS 2014_soapstone

Above: always love soapstone as a countertop. Here are some reasons why: soapstone is smooth and soft to touch; it has beautiful veining if you like some drama, but also comes in rather monochrome and color consistent slabs; soapstone is resilient to chemicals; even though not as hard as other countertop materials, it is tough against scratches, heat, impact and stains; it is acid and alkali resistant. You do need to apply a sealant or mineral oil for protection.

KBIS 2014_Rohl

Above: A traditional bridge faucet by Rohl – a family owned company with manufacturing in Italy, Germany, and the USA. I very much appreciate their commitment to quality products and customer service; and even though a lot of their products are very traditional in their style, they do offer a lot of designs for the more contemporary taste.

KBIS 2014_Refin TIle

Above: Porcelain tiles have come a long way. Many companies are now developing porcelain tile that even exhibits some surface textures/characteristics of wood and come up with different patterns such as the above. The pattern is beautiful and saves a lot in installation costs.

KBIS 2014_Omega_01

Above two: the kitchens at KBIS 2014 were really impressive this year. Beautiful finishes, great storage solutions, and the mixture of metals were amazing. Both pictures above were part of the Omega Cabinetry booth. Omega Cabinetry is a subsidiary of Master Brand Cabinets; their custom line also produces beautiful bath collections.

KBIS 2014_Kohler Artifacts

KBIS 2014_Artifacts

Above five: all Kohler products – a company I love for bathroom fixtures of all kinds. They have a beautiful array of finishes, and collections such as the Artifacts or the Margaux are simply timeless in their appearance. Every bathroom becomes a one of a kind design statement with these faucets and accessories.

KBIS 2014_Jeffrey Court_Bostik_01

KBIS 2014_Jeffrey Court_01

Above two: Jeffrey Court Tiles. I have recently used more and more chevron patterns in designs such as the above marble example. It adds impact and elegance even with an otherwise rather simple and boring tile. Do you notice the metallic grout in the upper picture? It’s a grout by Bostik that allows you to perfectly match any of your sparkly tiles; and it already includes a sealant.

KBIS 2014_Fairmont Vanity

Above: Fairmont Designs vanity from the Rustic Chic Collection. Love it. It’s also available in a weathered white oak finish; single or double vanity; and other sink configurations.

KBIS 2014_Ashley Norton_01

Above: Door hardware by Ashley Norton. All hardware is solid brass with several different finishes applied. I bet these age beautifully! The company also offers a variety of cabinet hardware.

KBIS 2014_Arizona Tile

Above: What do you think of these new tiles from Arizona Tile? Please be aware that a lot of the materials presented at the show (including the above tiles), may not be available until April 2014 or later, depending on your location within the States.

KBIS 2014_Antolini_02

Above: Zerobact by Antolini. Now, I have seen stones and slabs with fossils in my career,  but I have not seen anything like this before! Besides the great looks of this particular stone slab, the “A Zerobact” is really outstanding and unique for it’s bacteriostatic treatment that prevents the growth of bacteria and mould on surfaces.
